The Degree

While the study of political science has been a cherished tradition of academia, recent developments demand the identification of entirely new theories and models. An understanding of the challenges faced by the contemporary world requires an interdisciplinary approach; International Relations and Diplomacy should not be understood only as disciplines of Political Science or Political Theory, but also be interpreted from the perspective of art and culture, economics, law, and other social sciences.

Offered by the DIU in partnership with the ICD, the program combines the traditional academic components of international relations with a focus on the role of soft power and cultural diplomacy in contemporary global affairs. Only with a comprehensive understanding of the theory, history and practice of International Relations one can properly understand and apply cultural diplomacy.

Location

The taught components of the MA in International Relations and Cultural Diplomacy will be administered by the Dubrovnik School of Diplomacy at Dubrovnik International University, in Dubrovnik, Croatia, and the ICD Academy for Cultural Diplomacy at the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy, in Berlin, Germany.

Admissions

Applications for the MA in International Relations and Cultural Diplomacy can be sent at any time. However, we encourage potential students to apply as early as possible due to limited class sizes.

Late Admissions

The deadline for late admissions is February 20th, 2012. Students who have submitted their applications in full by this date will be eligible for an interview immediately. Applicants will be notified of the admission committee's decision within a period of four days following the interview.

Enrollment Day

The semester will start on March 12th, 2012 (Enrollment day) and will end on June 8th, 2012. Lectures start on March 13th, 2012

Tuition

Tuition for the MA in International Relations and Cultural Diplomacy is €3,000 per semester (total of €12,000)
