Beschreibung:

We will look at the peaceful revolutions from the perspective of different countries and ask how this experience can help us to overcome frictions and segregation in present day societies. We will do this with young people from Germany, Hungary, Poland and Northern Ireland. In this context, intercultural learning means: understanding how our own perspective is influenced by national and cultural factors; looking at events, at a year, at a long-term development from a comparative perspective and use this comparison as the basis for a common effort to build up the future.
How will we do it? We will approach history through the biographies of our parents and grandparents; we will compare the narratives of our textbooks on history; we will speak with politicians and carefully scrutinize their statements; we will visit places of remembrance and read their messages; we will develop common projects for the future, in which we transfer the message of 1989 to national and international activities. We want history to become alive for young people who weren’t part of it. The program will take place in Lambrecht and Berlin.
