Beschreibung:

ERA's annual conference on European antitrust law for 2011 will offer a forum for practitioners to learn and discuss issues related to the future of competition law in high technology industries in light of the latest policy developments:

- standardisation and its role in promoting technological development and innovation in the light of the new Guidelines;

- selected competition law aspects in the electronic communications sector, such as issues related to systems or applications accessible only to registered users and whether this can be a problem under competition law rules;

- the new frontiers represented by the challenges of cloud computing for the application of competition law rules, in particular: the importance of the prevailing business model in the market, determining inter alia the incentive to innovate; and the risk for potential customers of being locked in;

- the future look of the pharmaceuticals sector in the aftermath of the Astra Zeneca judgment and beyond;

- duty to licence issues related to the limitation of technical development, provided in Article 102(b) TFEU.
