Dii is a unique industry initiative founded in 2009 to pave the way for the implementation of the Desertec Vision. In its second year of activity Dii has achieved a number of milestones on its way to both create an expansive market for sustainable energy and to build partnerships. It is now time for another reflection on regulatory, political, social, environmental and economic challenges facing large-scale production of electricity from sun and wind in the deserts, of course with the intention of reducing costs to a competitive level.

At Dii’s Second Annual Conference in Cairo top speakers will talk about desert power financing, desert energy generation, transmission and sustainable development of desert energy. Among them Prof. Klaus Töpfer, Former UNEP Director, H.E. Dr. Hassan Younes, Minister of Electricity and Energy of Egypt, Egypt’s Prime Minister, Mustapha Bakkoury, Chairman of MASEN (Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy), and many more.
