FLARE (Freedom Legality and Rights in Europe) is offering the possibility of taking part in a project funded by the EU Commission in the context of the promotion of active citizenship and legality and the use of new media in social activism within the EU.

The project involves students from Germany, Italy and Croatia, with the aim of raising public awareness on the topic of organised crime, legality, corruption and counter-information.

The project consists in the production and management of two different tools: 1) two videos with the aim of a) presenting the German social youth movement in promoting social thematics, and b) the perception among the population of the presence of organised crime; 2) the management of a news-observatory able to gather news and to write articles related to legality, organised crime, corruption and other topics to be defined together with the group of participants.

The video products will be published on project ECHO website together with news and articles related to the news-observatory. Also, there is a chance for qualitative products to be published on the magazine Bright, the only European online magazine focused on transnational organised crime and corruption (www.brightmag.org).

The participants will be requested to participate actively in the production of the information tools, through conducting interviews, editing texts, making research, writing articles.

FLARE offers 2 days of training on the topic of the fight against organised crime and media techniques on the 15th and 16th of January 2011 in Berlin.

There is no payment for the students. Participants will also take part at a 2 days trip to South Italy on the 18th and 19th of March, in order to participate to the 16th Day in Memory of Victims of Mafia.

The entire costs of the trip will be covered by FLARE, and on those days there will be opportunity of interviewing well known social actors involved in the fight against organised crime and share the results of the project with the students coming from the other countries. Strong work ethic and individual creativity are appreciated and awarded.
