Of the many issues resulting from the United Kingdom's decision to leave the European Union, the situation regarding the natural land border between the Irish Republic and Northern Ireland has proven to be the most difficult to resolve. For many people, the ongoing conflicts are difficult to understand. Reference is constantly made to official decisions such as the Northern Ireland Protocol and Article 16, etc. but what do these entail?
Michael Dougan, Professor of European Law and Jean Monnet Chair in EU Law at the University of Liverpool, will give important information on the background to the UK-EU discussions, describe the present state of the negotiations, look into the future regarding possible ways of solving the conflict and discuss these topics with the audience.
