Beschreibung:
The network FLARE (www.flarenetwork.org) offers the possibility of taking part in a project funded by the EU Commission in the context of the promotion of active citizenship and democratic legality and the use of new media in social activism in the EU.
The project involves youths from Germany, Italy, Spain, France, Bulgaria and Greece, with the aim of raising public awareness on the topic of organised crime, minorities’ rights and counterinformation.
The project is aimed at fostering a dynamic networking for the European citizenship through the promotion of democratic legality as a key value of active citizenship, thanks to the diffusion of new technologies.
The project consists of a 4-day workshop regarding organised crime and communication techniques which will be offered to 15 participants in every country by the association member of the FLARE network who works at the local level.
The workshop in Berlin will be held from the 29th of March to the 1st of April, 2012 by the association Mafia? Nein Danke!.
During the first part of the workshop participants will be given a non-formal training on: the use of new media and art (i.e. flashmob, street art, etc.) for social purposes and political communication; video-making; Mafia’s eco-crimes and/or money laundering in Germany.
For the second portion of the workshop, the participants will be required to put into practice the previously learned proficiencies, by working in three groups (according to individual skills and preferences) and realising:
- a news-based work (i.e. a short inquiry, a news observatory, a blog, etc.);
- a video (i.e. documentary, interviews, etc.);
- an art performance (i.e. flashmob, street performance, theatre, viral communication, etc.).
In these groups the participants will have plenty of freedom to choose the specific activities to be realised. The local coordinator and the trainers will be available for help in case of doubts or when required. Continuation of the activities (especially those facilitated or made possible by the use of the web) after the workshop is possible and appreciated. The local coordinator of the project will assist the participants in such activities.
All the works will be published on the ECHO 2 website and included in digital supports for a wider spread over Europe.
For some interested participants, there will also be the opportunity to take part in other workshops organised by FLARE’s partners abroad and in the final event of ECHO 2, which will take place in Italy in July of 2012, when the results of the project will be shared with the other participants.
In both cases a reimbursement of the travel expenses will be provided.
There is no special prerequisite for applying. Nevertheless, strong work ethic and individual creativity are appreciated and awarded.
The participation at the workshop in Berlin is completely free of charge. Meals during the hours of the workshop will be provided.
For those participants based out of Berlin there is the possibility of a reimbursement for travel and lodging expenses.
